Rabbi Chaim Yosef Ackerman
Rabbi Chaim Yosef Ackerman grew up in Canada and Baltimore. He received s'micha from the Chofetz Chaim Yeshiva/Rabbinical Seminary of America in 2006 and studied under the great sage, Rav Alter Henoch Leibowitz. He also attended Yeshivas Chofetz Chaim in Yerushalayim for three years, where he had the opportunity to study intensively and become fluent in Hebrew. Rabbi Bentzion Chait, Director at Chofetz Chaim, described Rabbi Ackerman as one of their most outstanding Rabbinic graduates and a person of sterling and refined ethical character. Rabbi Ackerman received a degree in Psychology from Touro College and remains a student of human relationships and communication.
For two years, Rabbi Ackerman served as the Rav of Congregation Toras Emes in Kew Gardens Hills, NY, and has been the assistant Rabbi at the BAYT Synagogue, Beth Avraham Yoseph Congregation of Toronto, in Thornhill, ON, for the past three years. The BAYT, which is the largest orthodox congregation in North America with over 800 family members, has given Rabbi Ackerman the chance to be under the mentorship of a master pulpit Rabbi, Rav Baruch Taub, and to refine all the vital skills necessary to be a pulpit Rabbi. Rabbi Ackerman created and supervised programming for youth, college-aged students, and adults. In addition, he has also authored articles for numerous publications, presenting Torah in a thought-provoking way to which people may easily relate.
Rabbi Ackerman and his wife, Menucha, have five children: Aron, Leah, Dovy, Eliyahu and Pesha Sara.
