From the Social Committee
The Social committee of Ahavas Sholom has been working diligently this year to
bring you a variety of enjoyable programs -- from educational to pure
entertainment. Beginning back in October, we had a fun-filled, family event,
the Simchas Beis Hashoeva, followed by the scholar-in-residence weekend with
Rabbi Paysach Krohn, in November. This event received a very positive
response with 200 people attending the Friday night dinner. A very grateful
thank you goes to all those who helped make this Shabbos a success and to the
Federation for supporting this event with a generous grant.
The Shabbos of February 7, Parashas Be'shalach and Shabbos Shirah, we were
privileged to have another scholar-in- residence weekend, with the vibrant,
Rabbi Shalom Hammer, during which the Rabbanim who work with our children and
adults, giving of their time and efforts, were honored. The luncheon was
flowing with delicious food and a very enjoyable talk by Rabbi Hammer. Again,
thank you to the ladies of the Shul for all their hard work in the kitchen
and behind the scenes. Thank you also to our anonymous sponsor for this
luncheon and to Dotan and Shari Herszage who enhanced the luncheon with some
very delicious salads and to Rabbi Drandoff for helping with the
Cholent.
On Motzei Shabbos, February 21st at 8:30 pm, we have a "murder
mystery" event at the JCC which promises to be an intriguing night for
adults. The next and final activity before Pesach, is our Purim Seudah, which
will take place on March 10th following Mincha. Please see Purim flyer inside
newsletter.
Save the Date: Shabbos, May 15 & 16 for the Ahavas Sholom/Kollel
Shabbaton.
While the committee has been working hard, as always, none of these
activities can happen without the support and attendance of our congregation.
